The 'Expeditionary Light Project' is a public space art initiative launched by Chinese artist Zheng Jing. In February 2025, at Bulgaria's Buzludzha monument, Zheng Jing created a breathtaking piece using light art installation on this abandoned Cold War relic.
The DW team was responsible for the full documentary filming and post-production, completing the visual documentation in extreme conditions, capturing the dialogue between light and architecture, the collision of art and wilderness through our lens.
